The Rotary Foundation Global Contribution Form
The Every Rotarian, Every Year effort encourages Rotarians worldwide to
participate fully in their Rotary Foundation. Endorsed by the Foundation's
Trustees and the Rotary International Board of Directors, the purpose of the
Every Rotarian, Every Year initiative is twofold:
·
Encourage every Rotarian to
participate in a Foundation humanitarian or educational project that
truly makes a difference in the world, every year.
·
Encourage every Rotarian to
contribute to the Foundation's Annual Programs Fund, every year.
Rotarians in District 5300 are encouraged to contribute at least $150
annually ($37.50 per quarter) to the Rotary Foundation.
The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International, throughout its history, has
prided itself on being responsive to the challenges that confront humanity.
Rotarians, through their spirit of volunteerism and generous philanthropy,
remain at the heart of the Foundation's mission to eradicate polio and further
its humanitarian, educational, and cultural exchange programs worldwide. As
global leaders for doing good in the world, Rotarians work together to change
lives in meaningful ways; they bridge the divide among people to foster world
understanding and peace.
We hope that every Rotarian will take this opportunity to participate in
their Rotary Foundation and help to grow and sustain the Foundation's many
wonderful programs. The generous support from Every Rotarian, Every Year
to the Annual Programs Fund rebuilds impoverished communities and nations by
resolving conflict, championing human rights, eradicating disease, feeding the
hungry and educating children and adults.
Paul Harris Fellow Recognition is given, upon request, to an individual who
contributes, or in whose name is contributed, $1,000. Paul Harris
recognition can be earned through contributions to the Annual Programs Fund
(unrestricted) or through restricted contributions to Foundation programs such
as PolioPlus, PolioPlus Partners, and sponsor portions of approved Matching
Grants. NOTE: Contributions to the Permanent Fund receive Benefactor
Recognition and are not eligible for Paul Harris Fellow Recognition.
Paul Harris Recognition includes a personalized certificate with presentation
folder, lapel pin, and an optional medallion. Paul Harris Fellow Recognition can be
requested by completing a Appreciation / Contribution Form
(123-EN), available through your Rotary International office, World
Headquarters, or by download from the RI Web site at
www.rotary.org
.

Foundation Recognition Points. Foundation Recognition Points (FRPs) are created by Paul Harris Fellows contributing more than US$1,000. Points are tracked in a separate account on the Club Recognition Summary and can be used to honor others as Paul Harris Fellows. Individuals who have completed their Paul Harris Fellow requirements and have a recognition amount greater than $1,000 may transfer these points to another individual by signing a completed Recognition Transfer Request Form (102-EN). Points must be transfered in amounts over 100. The points are available for transfer as long as the donor is alive and spouses of major donors may still transfer points after the donor's death.

Information
District 5300 Paul Harris Society Brochure
The Paul Harris Society was established to recognize Rotarians and Honorary
Rotarians who contribute at least $1,000.00 per person
in their own names during each Rotary
year (July through June) to the unrestricted Annual Programs Fund
(Eligible for SHARE) of The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International.
After being invested for three years, one-half of each original contribution
will be returned to District 5300 as District Designated Funds (DDF) and
one-half will be provided to The Rotary Foundation World Fund to support
humanitarian programs and Group Study Exchange. The Society also
recognizes donations of at least $1,000 per Rotary year to the PolioPlus and
Humanitarian Grant programs of The Rotary Foundation.
Why Would I Choose to Join the Paul Harris Society?
The Rotary Foundation is the flagship of Rotary International’s efforts to offer
“Service Above Self” to the world through educational and humanitarian projects.
The contributions of individual Rotarians support world-wide programs which
provide clean water, promote literacy, continue the race to eradicate polio, and
fund Matching Grants, Health, Hunger and Humanity (3-H) Grants, Group Study
Exchange, Ambassadorial Scholarships, and Rotary World Peace Scholarships.
The Paul Harris Society provides a way for dedicated Rotarians to support this
good work, while honoring Rotary founder Paul Harris. The Society was
established on the premise that, although it is not appropriate for all members,
there are many District 5300 Rotarians who are both willing and able to provide
this level of support for initiatives that will make both our local communities
and the world better places in which to live. Those donors who agree to
contribute $1,000 each year to the Rotary Foundation will be awarded membership
in the Paul Harris Society and will be afforded the personal satisfaction
accompanying such selfless acts.
Recognition
Society members will receive District-wide recognition on appropriate occasions
and a distinctive blue and gold emblem or “ribbon,” that can be worn with the
Paul Harris Fellow pin or the Rotary Member pin. They will also qualify
for The Rotary Foundation’s Paul Harris Fellow or Multiple Paul Harris Fellow
recognition.

magazine. The Secretary or Club Foundation Chair can also assist you in
filling out the form.
·
Enclose a check for $1,000, payable to The

The Rotary Foundation defines a major gift as a personal gift (outright or
cumulative) of US$10,000 or more. Major gifts are encouraged for both the
Annual Programs Fund and the Permanent Fund. In either case, the donor is
asked to designate the spending
portion of the gift applied to the World Fund, where the need is determined
greatest by the Trustees; or to the SHARE system.
Within District 5300, the follow individuals are chairing the major gifts /
bequest / planned giving committee and are available to field questions:
·
Greg Jones Pasadena After Hours, 626-807-0815
· Greg Cox, Altadena Club 626-357-2013
The Rotary Foundation recognizes those couples or individuals as major donors
whose combined personal outright or cumulative giving has reached US$10,000. All
outright contributions made to The Rotary Foundation are included in this total,
regardless of the gift designation.
The Rotary Foundation recognizes these special donors at seven gift levels:
| Donor Levels | Cumulative Contributions |
| Major Donor Level 1 | $10,000 to $24,999 |
| Major Donor Level 2 | $25,000 to $49,999 |
| Major Donor Level 3 | $50,000 to $99,000 |
| Major Donor Level 4 | $100,000 to $249,999 |
| Arch C Klumph Trustees Circle | $250,000 to $499,999 |
| Arch C Klumph Chair’s Circle | $500,000 to $999,999 |
Donors may elect to receive a crystal recognition piece and Diamond Circle pins
commemorating the gift at each new recognition level. Diamond Circle pins will
reflect the combined totals from personal outright contributions as well as
bequest commitments.
A planned gift is one legally made during the donor’s lifetime, but whose
principal benefits do not accrue to The Rotary Foundation until sometime in the
future, usually at the death of the donor and / or income beneficiaries
designated by the donor. With some types of these gifts, the donor retains some
present interest (usually an income interest) in the assets, and directs the
remainder for the ultimate benefit of The Rotary Foundation. In addition, the
donor of the gift often achieves significant reductions of taxes on income,
capital gains, and his/her estate. The Foundation’s Trustees have directed that,
unless otherwise indicated, proceeds from planned gifts will be placed in the
Permanent Fund and earnings credited to the World Fund. Donors may designate
that the spending or earning’s portion from their gift be directed through
SHARE.
Life Income Gifts - charitable gift annuity. In exchange for an
irrevocable transfer of $10,000 or more, the Foundation will guarantee an annual
income to one or two people designated by the donor. In the United States, there
can be an immediate income tax deduction for a charitable gift annuity, and a
portion of the annual income return for the donor can be free from tax.
A variant is the deferred charitable gift annuity. In this case, the date
for the start of annuity payments is deferred from the contract date by at least
one year. This provision offers a younger donor an opportunity to take advantage
of the tax benefits of such a gift and also plan for payments during retirement.
Life Income Gifts - pooled income funds. Gifts of cash, securities, or
both are pooled with those of many other persons in The Rotary Foundation’s
Pooled Income Fund for investment, similar to a mutual fund. The donor (and/or
income beneficiary) receives a proportionate share of the earnings for life. The
donor receives a charitable tax deduction, can avoid capital gains tax, and can
reduce his / her estate taxes. Minimum: US$5,000.
Life Income Gifts - charitable remainder trusts. The donor transfers
money, property, or both to TRF, which invests the assets as a separate fund.
The donor receives either a variable income (the unitrust) or a fixed dollar
amount (the annuity trust). This type of gift may reduce or eliminate capital
gains on appreciated assets and can provide an immediate income tax deduction.
Minimum: US$100,000.
Other Planned Gifts - retained life estate in a residence or farm.
The owner of a residence or farm may give the property to TRF, claim an income
tax deduction for the charitable remainder, and retain use of the property for
oneself and / or another. A portion of the residence or farm value may be
excluded from estate tax.
How a Rotary's donor advised fund works.
The Rotary Foundation Donor Advised Fund is an innovative way for individuals
and Rotary-affiliated groups to create a separate investment account with the
Foundation that is earmarked exclusively for charitable giving. You can choose
to do this with an individual account or in conjunction with a larger group of
Rotary friends through a group account.
|
|
|
|
|
Step 1 |
Individual or a Rotary-affiliated group (e.g., the Rotary Club of
Anytown, USA) makes a minimum initial contribution of $20,000 in cash,
securities, mutual funds, restricted and privately held stock, or bonds
and receives an immediate tax deduction. |
|
Step 2 |
Account holders may recommend how the contribution will be allocated
among four available investment portfolios, which receive professional
asset management. |
|
Step 3 |
Individual or a Rotary-affiliated group recommends when and how much to
grant to charities. |
|
Step 4 |
Each year, $250 from an individual DAF or 1% of the fair market value of
a group DAF is allocated to the Annual Program Fund to support The
Rotary Foundation's programs. |
|
Step 5 |
Upon the death of the account holder, at least 50 percent of the
individual account balance will be transferred to The Rotary
Foundation's Permanent Fund, creating a lasting legacy for doing good in
the world. |
Contributions of appreciated securities held for more than one year can be
deducted on your tax returns without incurring capital gains taxes. The table

Membership in the Bequest Society occurs when an individual or couple
indicates that The Rotary Foundation is a beneficiary in their will or other
estate plan for a minimum of US$10,000 and notifies the Foundation in
writing. Cash, securities, real estate, or property of any description may
be given to The Rotary Foundation through an individual’s will or estate
plan. The donor retains full control and use of the property during his /
her lifetime. When the will is probated or the trust assets are distributed,
the gift to The Rotary Foundation qualifies for a charitable deduction in
computing estate taxes.
Types of gifts eligible for membership in the Bequest Society include:
·
Bequests through wills, living trusts, and other retirement plan assets
·
Whole and universal life insurance
Making a gift to The Rotary Foundation through your estate is very easy. After
you have changed your estate / trust documents with your estate attorney to
indicate a desire to make an estate to the Foundation, you need to merely inform
the Foundation of your desire or commitment to join the Bequest Society. Use the
Rotary International website to
inform the Foundation of this commitment.
All Bequest Society members receive recognition from the Trustees of The Rotary
Foundation. Donors may elect to receive an engraved crystal recognition piece
and a Diamond Circle pin. Diamond Circle pins will reflect the combined totals
from personal outright contributions as well as bequest commitments. The
Foundation recognizes bequest society donors at six commitment levels
