This montage was assembled from pictures taken on site at the June 6, 2006 Corazon house build, sponsored by Alhambra, Claremont Sunrise and Laughlin, NV Rotary Clubs. It should give the viewer some perspective of what the upcoming Super Build will entail.

2006 Super Build
A Report from Ken Rowland, Claremont Sunrise Rotary Club

Our club, Claremont Sunrise, along with Alhambra and Laughlin, NV, just completed our 2006 sing house build in a village near Tecate, Mexico.

This years house included a bathroom and that plus the 104*+ temps made the build extremely tough. We did however prevail! The build took place on June 10th, which was a bit later in the season than previous builds. Corazon, out third party partner, has decided not to build , in the Tecate area, during the months of June/July/August due to the heat issues.

The family, a man, his wife and 8 year old child now have a new home. For the last 10 years they have lived in a stationary motor home of about 25 feet. Their cooking was done outside and we are told the roof leaked during the rainy season. The property on which the home was built initially belonged to the mans father. The father was killed in a highway accident and the land reverted to the son. It wasn't until about 10 years later that the family had become associated with the Corazon organization and had amassed enough community hours to earn a new home.

These homes are certainly "Spartan" by the standards we are used to, here in the U.S.A. but to this family I am sure it is viewed as a "mansion"

It took about 45 Rotary Volunteers nearly 9 hours to complete the home. The work crew also included several Exchange Students and Ambassadorial Scholars.

I have included some pictures, taken by a Claremont Noon Club member, Mike Pearlman, a local Claremont commercial photographer, which are provided for use to you and the District web site, in any way you see fit.

Please consider putting any/all of this note and pictures up on the Super Build 2007 web page. Perhaps it would build some enthusiasm for the project.
