125 student and adult participants attended the first annual Rotary District 5300 Teen Leadership Camp. It was held at the Desert Sun Science Center in Idyllwild, California on October 6-8, 2000. The training program provided 8th graders with speakers, workshops and activities which focused on the theme: leading oneself is the first step in leading others. 96 middle school students from 48 different school were sponsored by 34 district Rotary clubs.
The camp featured Scott Greenberg, author, motivational speaker and leadership consultant who worked closely with the TLC planning committee to develop the seminar’s format, its workshops and activities. Roger Schulte (Upland) was the event chairperson and the nine counselors were selected from high school seniors who attended RYLA last year.

The following are selected shots from this last year's Teen Leadership Camp.It was held at the Desert Sun Science Center in Idylwild, Califoria during October 5-7. 106 8th graders from District 5300 participated in this leadership training opportunity. Its focus was on: "Leading oneself as the first step to leading others." Workshops general session included the following topics: Peer Pressure, Time Management, Goal Setting, Risk Taking, and Thinking Outside of The Box. 8 selected high school seniors served as counselors and used the skills they learned at RYLA to led the small group sessions. Scott Greenberg was the Camp facilitator and keynote speaker. He will speak to Rotarians at the Community Service Plenary Session at this years Rotary Conference. Roger Schulte was this year's chairman. Charlie Barr will chair next years event.
